Hello! How are you?!

Performance

Our performance is a fantasy about life in Germany. Forced migration makes us select a country based on seemingly paramount criteria,

such as security and stability.

But arriving to the chosen place, we inevitably face a collision with reality

– we find ouselves in an emerging new system

where not everyone manages to settle at once.

Hello, Home!

Performance

Writing a letter to the house, not a letter home, but a letter to the house itself…

talking to it, returning to the house in dreams, remembering barely extant photos, putting small pieces to form a collage… is it madness? Excessive sentimentality?

Living in the past and denying present?

The performance »Hello, Home!« is a part of »X Letters« projecta video diary that combines different contexts and stories reflecting the themes of exile, migration and flight, loss of home, choice, adaptation and existential crisis due to the war in Ukraine and political repressions in Belarusall united in a symbolic book.

»Hello, Home!« is a memoir of personal experiences and reflections from social media posts and comments, interview fragments and multimedia archives

collected during the artist’s research.

Inventing oneself

Dance performance

In our dance performance »Inventing oneself«, we use physical means to visualise people in emigration having to reinvent themselves. We start with an assumption that every human being contains an unknown number of personalities, which enables them to adapt to a new reality without losing the connection with one’s immutable inner »self«. By juxtaposing black and white, yin and yang, we want to express human consciousness duality

– the rational and the inner side of human existence.

Self-immolation

Performance

As migrants, we are daily overrun by doubts and fears, by inner restlessness and insecurity, by longing and despair. As strangers in our homeland and strangers in a new place, we look for a chance to change our lives. The ritual of purification through fire can help us to free ourselves from these oppressive feelings. The artist Olga Somka (Fumage) and the director Zophia Ewska are ready to go through the fire and be reborn. And what will you throw into your fire of experience?
