»Wandering Roots«

A virtual gallery presenting recent artistic projects and initiatives by Belarusian authors exploring migration, memory, identity, and borders through the lens of nature and field research

WANDERING ROOTS is a virtual gallery presenting recent artistic projects and initiatives by Belarusian authors exploring migration, memory, identity, and borders through the lens of nature and field research. Built on panoramic 360° images of Belarusian landscapes, captured across different seasons and times of day, the environment shapes the atmosphere for works embedded in the space. Viewers encounter interactive »portals« within the panoramas, leading to multimedia works, texts, contextual materials, and links to the presented projects and initiatives.

Border regions such as Podlasie and the Białowieża Forest have become symbolic sites of proximity to the homeland, where cultural practitioners reflect on exile, belonging, and the ongoing migration crisis. The project captures these processes, weaving diverse contemporary artistic initiatives into a cohesive digital scenography that offers new ways of perceiving and preserving art. Wandering roots invites the viewer to become a wanderer, shaping their own path through a shared terrain of stories and reflections.

The project is created by Nadya Sayapina and supported by platformB. The archive
