»1406« is a short film about Belarusian cultural and artistic figures who have been subjected to repression. On 14 June 2020, one of the main presidential candidates, Viktor Babariko, was arrested. Attached to his criminal case were paintings by Belarusian artists from the corporate collection of Belgazprombank, which Babariko had returned to Belarus in 2011. This story inspired the idea for the film »1406«. The paintings were redrawn by the director in collaboration with an artist who goes by the pseudonym Ivan Ivanov.
