Alla Melenteva is a writer, translator, and literary critic, born and raised in Donetsk, in eastern Ukraine. She holds a bachelor’s degree in linguistics from Saint Petersburg University. After graduating, she worked as an English teacher and as a news agency editor. She is the author of two novels: The Dostoevsky Girls (2005) and Rin’s Family (2016), published by Limbus Press (Russia) and KSD Publishing (Ukraine). Her work has appeared in numerous Russian and Ukrainian literary magazines, as well as in international publications such as The London Magazine (UK) and Merkur (Germany). As a resident of Kyiv, she has experienced the war in Ukraine firsthand and is collecting material for a work about it, hoping to contribute to its broader historical understanding.
