A video reflection on the awakening of a Russian city

»The war started by Russia against Ukraine in 2014 is ongoing. Novosibirsk, the city in which I lived most of my life, is located far in the country’s periphery, at a distance of 3,500 km from the front zone. How much has it changed since the beginning of the full-scale invasion?

I look at all the posters advertising contract military service, all the propaganda materials, all the «Z”-letters the state introduced to symbolize the killings promoted as »liberation«. The abundance of visual materials one can spot everywhereon vehicles and buildings, fences and lamp postseliminates, disguises, and camouflages the actual presence of war. The Siberian megapolis, on the other hand, appears stuck, hiding in the rear. I would like to wake the city updeafen it with the real sounds of the war that it has never heard, but in which participates.”
